O primeiro passo foi a dinâmica do barbante para termos uma idéia do que os alunos gostavam ou não em relação a comida. Inicialmente, fizeram um reconhecimento do entorno e dentro da área da Emip com a professora Valéria e, posteriormente, o desenho do caminho percorrido diariamente de sua casa até a escola. Foram orientados a colocar o nome das ruas e os pontos de referência (através de símbolos) , bem como a legenda, para que sua casa possa ser localizada. Observaram o bairro em que a escola se insere, reconhecendo e representando na planta seus principais atributos, estabelecimentos, problemas, etc. Os desenhos livres foram tranpostos para o editor de imagens Gimp e constam de um album organizado por Valéria. <br /> Na aula de matemática, foi pedido aos alunos, pela professora Mariana, uma classificação dos seus locais preferidos, dentro e fora da escola. Com os resultados tabulados eles elaboraram gráficos diversos.
